The following assistance is available for single mothers in Tennessee;
Quillen Medicine Scholars
Preference shall be given to applicants who live in the First Congressional Distric of Tennessee (Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, & Washington). A recipient may receive the Quillen Scholarship up to a maximum of four years. Additional criteria to help in selecting students include: Residence in the late Congressman Quillen’s district as required in the Memorandum of Understanding; Evaluate each student’s high school attended (i.e., in the First district, located in a disadvantaged area of the district, etc.); First generation college student; Evaluate the student’s federal Expected Family Contribution (EFC) determined from the FAFSA and other information reported on the FAFSA; If the student is a single parent; and grades/test scores/rank in class may be considered only if all other things are equal.

Heloise Werthan Kuhn Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee issues this scholarship to pregnant or parenting teens residing in the state of Tennessee. Applicants should be enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, junior college, technical school or job-training program.
